About Us

SVNM is a 501c3 tax exempt non-profit organization with a clear mission: To acquire, preserve, and protect Van Norden Meadow for public access and enjoyment.

Our board currently consists of three Donner Summit property owners: Tom Appelbaum, Joe Gray, and Nancy Latimer (full-time Serene Lakes resident), along with Susan Snider (a long time advocate for the South Yuba River and its headwaters in the meadow) and Bob Riksheim, a Bay area resident (our CPA and legal brain). More information about our board can be found on our "Board of Directors" page.

Our goal is to open the meadow up to the public, either by aquiring the meadow directly, or by working with a land trust to acquire it-- an effort that will take sizable financial resources. In this effort we are working with or will be working with other stakeholders like SYRCL, Truckee Donner Land Trust, Sugar Bowl and Royal Gorge in a coordinated effort to open the meadow to everyone and to protect the meadow in perpetuity from future development.

Save Van Norden Meadow welcomes all input and comments. Please direct these to info@svnm.org.

Volunteers

SVNM welcomes volunteers. If you would like to help SVNM save the meadow, please contact us at info@svnm.org
